ATHLETIC BANQUET
On Friday evening, March 31, the Athletic Department of Blue Grass hosted the annual Athletic Ban-quet. After a delicious dinner in a beautifully decorated gym, coaches presented trophies for achievements in girls' volleyball, cheerleading, girls' basketball, and boys' basketball.

There are many hard-working people behind our successful athletic program. We were fortunate to have team mothers for boys' basketball this year. Keri Monroe and Cheryl Lesher did a great job keeping the team organized. (They also coordinated the athletic department's fund raiser– the fruit sale!) The vonSchlutter family faithfully works our concession stand– all the ordering, much of the cooking, etc.
Ben Sims takes care of uniforms and equipment; Lois Sims graciously took on the chore of depositing money and paying the bills. Several ladies took the job of organizing this year's banquet. They were: Keri Monroe, Cheryl Lesher, Sandy Rogers, Nicole Dolen, and Brenda vonSchlutter. Brian Monroe did more than his share of turns at the scorers' table. Many parents contributed their time and talents to make our season a successful one.
And last but not least, our coaches. These untiring volunteers spend many long hours with our children. Our hats go off to them: Beth Rose, David Vorbeck, Heath Dolen, Nicole Dolen, Billy Edge, and especially to Joey Winer and Charlie Blankenship, who retired this year after nine years of coaching our boys' basketball teams--leading the 1997 and 1999 teams to KCAA State Championships!
